Roscommon native, sásta founder and Franchising Woman of the Year, Fiona Egan has a busy schedule.  Not only is she training to run in the forthcoming New York City Marathon, her latest weight loss, fitness and health business sásta franchise has just opened its doors in Galway city, joining six other sásta studios in Ireland and the first sásta UK studio in Brighton, UK.

Recently nominated for 3 Bank of Ireland Start Up Awards, the business now employs 39 people in total across the studios, head office and in manufacturing and support. Manufactured in Boyle with the head office in Leitrim Village, the sásta fitness pod is about to be exported to the first sásta studio in Madrid, Spain opening in the coming weeks.

Fiona is very clear on the basis of this successful expansion, “our main selling tool is the brilliant weight loss, fitness and health results our clients are achieving.  We are also the only weight loss or fitness company that will guarantee results – if you don’t lose a clothes size in 4 weeks of following the sásta programme, we will give you your money back.  This is a real measure of our confidence in our programme.

In developing the business, when I share the sásta testimonials of life changing client results I am taken very seriously by potential buyers.  These tell the story of amazing results achieved by the not so fit and overweight to performance athletes. With obesity figures at crisis levels, sásta is seen as a real game changer in the global market.   New York will see me running the marathon for the local charity Billy’s World but I also have a number of really exciting meetings with top fitness and weight loss investors so I expect our first sásta studio to open in the US in early 2015 – not bad for an idea I had three to four years ago in tackling my own weight loss challenge’.

Growing a business can be a daunting time, requiring lots of commitment, energy and determination. Fiona compares the process to losing weight and getting fit. That is why sásta involves not only the 30 minute workout in the sásta fitness pod, it also involves working with a sásta personal trainer (without the cost) who every week works privately with client in tracking progress, motivating and achieving targets.  sásta is very much about the individual and unlike slimming clubs, the focus is not only on weight on the scales but on inches lost, fat loss, muscle gain and the metabolic age of each client.
